IITPSA (Institute of Information Technology Professionals South Africa)

The professional body for ICT practitioners

IITPSA (Institute of Information Technology Professionals South Africa), formerly Computer Society South Africa (CSSA), is a professional body, recognised by the South African Qualifications Authority (SAQA). Established in 1957, the Institute has a long and proud history of service to, and representation of, South Africa’s ICT professionals and practitioners, attracting a broad and active membership from all levels of the ICT Industry.

In 2015, IITPSA’s Professional Member programme (denoted by the professional designation “PMIITPSA”) was accredited by IFIP’s IP3 (International Professional Practice Partnership).

IITPSA’s aims are to further the study, science and application of Information and Communications Technologies (ICTs); maintain and promote Codes of Conduct and Ethics for our members; define and promote standards of ICT knowledge; promote the formulation of effective policies on ICT and related matters; and extend the knowledge and understanding and usage of ICTs in the community. This is achieved by engagement with both Industry and Government on ICT policy, regulations and professional activities, combined with a commitment to the wider community to ensure the beneficial use of ICT.

Microsoft Partner

Microsoft Partner

A Microsoft Silver-Certified partner is a company that has agreed to collaborate and establish a close working relationship with Microsoft. Having that title means the company who applied itself has earned the highest standards of Microsoft's widely-recognized partnership program.

Silver Application Development

“Microsoft Certified Professional (MCP) certification validates IT professional and developer technical expertise through rigorous, industry-proven, and industry-recognized exams. MCP exams cover a wide range of Microsoft products, technologies, and solutions.”

Achieving such a status means Microsoft has declared that the company has committed itself to evolving Microsoft technologies for the interests of its own needs as well as those of its clients.

OVH Partner

OVH Partner

OVH's success depends above all on the success of OVH's customers. Many of them are resellers, web agencies, IT services companies, web developers, facilities managers, software publishers, trainers and IT systems architects. In short, these are companies like yours, whose job is to set up IT projects and support the end-client on a day-to-day basis.

The Partner Programme was set up for those of you who add significant value to our solutions by selling OVH products and services and supporting end-clients to use them. Your knowledge and skills complement OVH's expertise and cover at least one of the OVH product categories - web, dedicated infrastructures and/or cloud.

We've got good hearts

Community.  The Code Group is a software development company that believes in helping the community that has so generously helped us. This is done by assisting selected charities and local initiatives with development work as well as representing IITPSA in the Eastern Cape Chapter of IITPSA.

Projects we're involved with:

  • Reset Earth (UNEP)
  • Do4SA
  • Project Nelson Mandela Bay
  • ConnectedCity PE
  • Zakaah System for the Al-Fidaa Foundation
  • Eastern Cape Chapter of IITPSA

Reset Earth is a mobile game designed to give players a better understanding of the role of the ozone layer in protecting the planet.

The game itself is a single-player platformer with hand-drawn art. You switch between characters and use their abilities across four levels. Puzzles aim to educate players about environmental history and the science of protecting the planet.

The Reset Earth mobile game ties in with a new Reset Earth animation film due out 24th January. This film is set in a dystopian post-apocalyptic world circa 2084, where the ozone layer has been completely ruined and human life is under threat from a virus called "the grow".

It stars three teens who team up in a time-travel adventure to save the planet and what's left of humanity. They at first need to find out what caused the grow, travelling back in time to ensure the signing of the Montreal Protocol agreement and save the ozone layer.

Where change comes from within.

Do4SA is a Non Profit organisation, established to shake off negativity from the mindsets of many South Africans. Poverty is a wall, impossible to demolish as a whole. Your donations remove, brick by brick the wall built by forces that create poverty. The millions we cannot reach should not detract from the optimism of helping the few we can, granting aid to one individual is in effect giving life to humanity.

OUR STRATEGY - Show off Different Elements with a Different Touch.
We need technology, the sciences, education and good social ethics to be brought into impoverished communities to create hopes and dreams. Change needs to come from within rather than a force fed atmosphere of skill development. Our programs are designed to touch hearts, to encourage personal growth by sharing and giving back to communities. Giving is not only about money. Talent and time are all avenues of giving. We need to share these wonderful qualities within us with those less fortunate so that they can be inspired, live big and help the world to become a better place for all.

Project Nelson Mandela Bay is a private “good citizen” initiative with the objective of making Nelson Mandela Bay “The greatest City in South Africa”. The initiative is being coordinated in conjunction with the local business and civil society community.

We define ourselves as:

  • Passionate and Motivated Citizens
  • Catalysts for positive change
  • A-Political Agitators
  • Connectors
  • Change Instigators
  • Lobbyists
  • Project Initiators
  • Think Tank
  • Visionaries

Individuals and Organisations partnering with Project NMB do so in order to contribute to the City’s legacy, doing their bit to make the change we want to see. Project NMB is not a CSI/CSR initiative but a logical business intervention to help boost the City’s economy, stabilize the job market, create new job opportunities, improve the City’s marketability and standing, attract much needed foreign direct investment, boost local pride in the City and improve the quality of life for generations to come.

Project NMB is becoming increasingly recognised in the City. During the recent past we have been invited to be represented at the Baakens River Precinct Market Assessment as well as the Business Vision 2030 Economic Strategy for the Metro.

The Connected City Team has developed an Android App that allows the user to connect to the City and discover places that would otherwise have remained unknown. From local news to the best sushi restaurant in town, Connected City shows you where to go.

Not only does it assist the user in finding the best places to be, and provide information on the City, it is beneficial for tourism as it leads the user to places they otherwise may not have discovered. This in turn benefits the locals as it brings business to their doorstep. The App is also available in mobile web format for iPhone and Blackberry users.

The Connected City platform is fully extendable and currently pulls extensive information from the Show Me Port Elizabeth website on the following categories:

  • Important Contact Numbers
  • Restaurants
  • Events and Entertainment
  • Accommodation
  • Tourism
  • Business
  • Lifestyle
  • News

ZAHSA is the first ever online computer software program specifically designed for organisations involved in the distribution of Zakaah or monetary aid to Muslim Recipients. Zahsa integrates the process from the initial visit of the recipient to the storage of thousands of case files all at the click of a button. ZAHSA moves away from the traditional methods of capturing data on paper and systematizing the process of applicants receiving help from organisations in one all-inclusive program which saves money and human resources.

ZAHSA is a body created to serving Zakaah Organisations with a simple unique Zakaah online software application for the benefit of the Almighty. We urge one and all to join in this initiative which will ultimately provide a comprehensive data landscape for Bonafide organisations.

The Code Group has a representative as the Chairman for IITPSA in the Eastern Cape. We assist in the organisation and execution of IT related events that support the local IT community.

We believe it to be critically important that we share our lessons learnt and those of others with the IT community. Knowledge sharing is key and creating a sense of community within the IT Industry in the Eastern Cape. This is a key principle that we stand as The Code Group stands for, together with the ethics and principles of the IITPSA.

Numbers don't lie

We developed a system for SARB to assist in the repayment of people that were defrauded in a pyramid scheme. It's the first and only system of its kind in RSA.

We managed to do payouts to the value of R850m to 171 000 people affected negatively.
